A daily meditation practice is a powerful gift to give yourself. Calming the mind is healing and mindful. A reactive mind is in the past. A worrying mind is in the future.

Here are eight simple steps to help you set up a meditation practice.

  1. Set a timer for ten to twenty minutes.
  2. Turn off the phone, TV, and computer.
  3. Put away any reading material-books and magazines.
  4. Find a comfortable position, where you’re not disturbed by family or pets
  5. Set up a meditative posture with your backs straight, eyes gazing down or closed and hands resting on the thighs
  6. Listen to soft music or wind chimes.
  7. Start breathing rhythmically and evenly.
  8. Begin counting from one to twenty-four and focus only on the breath.
