You can still join the meditation series.
A five-week exploration into consciousness via the telephone with KumariDevi for a deep exploration into the mind of stillness via meditation beginning April 22-May 20.
Dhyana meditation comes from Chandogya Upanishad and ancient Vedas and means right concentration. It’s part of the eight-fold path of practice taught by the Buddha for reaching enlightenment. It’s a state of meditation where awareness is fully absorbed in the object of meditation. Where the mind has become firm and stable, and the ability to concentrate is enhanced.
Deepen Your Practice to Self-Realization
Zazen means seated meditation in Japanese and has its origins in Dhyana from ancient India. The focus is not to place your awareness on anything or remove all thoughts from the mind but rather in a seated posture. In a traditional Zazen setting, one sits absolutely still, usually for “sitting periods” of about 35 minutes.
KumariDevi’s Dhyana Meditation
Being a little bit of a rebel, I’m adding a twist to the meditation practice by concentrating on certain aspects of consciousness you are familiar with. You’ll be instructed and be in meditation pose for about 25 minutes to attain still body and mind. Make sure you have a meditation cushion or bench and are in a quiet location.
