Authentic living is moving beyond the ego’s needs and wants. See the ego as a programmed robot that operates by old programming. When people awaken, they wake up from the ego’s identity of fear, unworthiness, shame, blame, unhappiness.
To live authentically, you are living the true essence of yourself. Who is fearless, confident, present, and embodies self-love. She/He doesn’t need to look outside of themselves for anything. She knows she’s loved. She knows she is confident and knows she’s grounded and present. Or he knows he’s loved. He knows he is confident and he’s grounded and present.
To start bringing awareness to your Authentic self and how it can roll into your life, weekly, select an intention for your morning meditation. Select a happy point; perhaps it’s holding space, and not reacting, or reciting the mantra “I am Happy” and notice how it changes you and the people around you.
In the evening, instead of turning on the TV, reaching for a glass of wine or pot, reflect on the day and place your attention on the happy moments you noticed during the day. Attention has value. Where’s your focus? Attention is currency. Where we put our attention, it increases value. Notice how you feel, how complicated the intention might be, or how easy it is. Notice if you can stay mindful of the happy point for the rest of the evening.
